There are a few different classes that I have very much enjoyed during my time at Cal Poly. Under the “courses” pages, I will talk about 4 of these, including an AMM Core course, an AMM Option course, a Support Course, and a General Education course.

KIN 370 - Stress Management for Healthy Living
A holistic approach to stress management; preventing and/or alleviating physical symptoms of stress; exploration of the mind/body connection.
In this class, I learned a lot from this class about stress, what causes it, and how to deal with it. It wasn’t too difficult a class, but I think I made a very good decision in taking it because of everything I got out of it. I was lucky to have taken this class as a lecture and not online, because as opposed to the online course, we were able to do progressive muscle relaxation and yoga – I’ll explain more in a bit. My professor was a character, and had a lot of fun teaching this course, so it made it much more interesting and entertaining for us students.

Learning Outside the Classroom
How are you active at CPP outside of the classroom?
I generally find classwork keeps me busy at school, but I do enjoy helping out outside of the classroom where I’m able to.

Life Experiences
The Flame Broiler
Between March 2009 and March 2012, I held down my first real job working as a cashier at The Flame Broiler. It was here that I learned how to talk with customers and interact with my coworkers. I learned a lot of people skills on both ends. With my coworkers, I had to communicate to make sure the orders came through correctly and in a reasonable amount of time. I learned to communicate with my boss about things the store needed, customers that were asking for him, and other inquiries that required my boss’s attention. I also became skilled at speaking with customers and putting smiles on their faces by getting their order to them quickly and making small talk. I was happy I was able to stay with this company for a long time, and my boss always complimented me in that for the entire time I was there, he never had any problems arise with me. I was proud to be able to say that I worked efficiently at my job and got along with everyone I encountered.
Fashion Modeling
Since the beginning of 2012, I have done modeling work both in fashion shows and photo shoots. I have modeled in 4 Japanese fashion shows showcasing various street fashions, working with the brands Baby, the Stars Shine Bright, Kapibara-san, and Miss Angela Che. I have also modeled in 3 Japanese street fashion and 1 glamour professional photo shoots, one of these being for the store I interned at, Fairytale Boutique, and working with local photographers such as LAPhotoNet, Mike Cabusi, and Zekie Cho.

Fairytale Boutique opened its doors in the heart of Little Tokyo, Los Angeles in June 2012. It is a boutique that sells new and pre-owned Japanese street fashion designer attire and accessories.

My Responsibilities
- Input inventory and prepare items to be sold in the store and on the online website.
- Add products to computer inventory, add hangtag to item with SKU, new or used, and price, hang them neatly so they display properly.
- Assist customers
- Help them find what they're looking for, assist them in the dressing room.
- Prepare for and host in-store events
- Model for store in photo shoots.
